The Story Famous Philadelphia Eagle Redwood Carving
Early years in famous Pennsylvania locations among Philadelphia Eagles Football Club Christmas parties in 1996 and 1997
Name of Owner Held for the Buyer.
The History of Finding the EAGLE
In 1984, during a trip to California with my terminally ill mother, we passed a wood carving establishment in Monterey California. My mother spotted a 13 foot tall moose carved from Redwood and immediately said that that would look good in front of our house in Pennsylvania. Because of it's odd address, visitors always had difficulty locating our house. A compromise was made and the seven foot Eagle was purchased instead. Unfortunately the Eagle did not arrive in Pennsylvania until after my mother's death.
The Eagle spent its first years in Pennsylvania in the lobby of the corporate offices of the Sports Factory, which was a chain of Health and Racquetball clubs.
In the spring of 1995, the Eagle was moved to the Melange Restaurant and Nightclub in the Warwick Hotel which was located on the corner of 17th and Locust Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Melange sponsored and hosted the Philadelphia Eagles Football Club Christmas parties in 1996 and 1997. The parties benefited the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Charity and the Eagle acted as a symbolic "Christmas Tree" for the donated toys to be placed around.
On July 9th, 1996 Melange was the official caterer for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game and the Eagle stood guard at the entrance to the catering tent at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia.
Also in 1996, the Eagle stood at the entrance to the country of Spain's exhibition at the Fancy Food Show held that year at the Philadelphia Convention Center.
Again in the fall of 1996, the Eagle was prominent at a press conference and dinner by President Bill Clinton at Melange.
Many celebrities and sports stars lined up to have their picture taken with the Eagle during its tenure at Melange.
In 1997, the eagle retired to the state of Florida. Belleair Beach became its new home where the Eagle overlooked the Intercoastal Waterway for the past 21 years. I believe it was about 2010 when it moved a couple of houses closer to the point, to the location in which you found it last night.

I am very grateful and appreciative that the Eagle has found a new home with two very nice people, who although I have just met, I feel sure will take excellent care.
It was a real pleasure to meet Hongkongwillie. I wish you the very best and I hope that you will stay in touch.

The location proved a winner, generating more than $1 million in sales in 1982.
The signal informing outside observers of Rayden's readiness to expand on a grand scale arrived in March 1993, when Pacific Sunwear filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering (IPO) of stock.
On the heels of this prodigious growth spurt, plans were announced for the expansion of the chain by 35 percent, or 50 new stores, in 1995.
Weaver Era Begins in 1996
By the end of 1996, 30 new stores had been established during the year.
A majority of the 15 stores planned for the first wave of expansion were expected to be opened before the 1998 school season, with stores slated for malls in California, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, and Michigan.
To assist in this ambitious expansion, the company launched its first national advertising campaign in February 1999, placing advertisements in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, Teen People magazine, and Seventeen magazine.
PacCares was started in 2020 to support and partner with organizations that align with the company’s values of good mental health, diversity, and equality.
